Following the first summit held in September 2023 in Nairobi, Africa is organizing its second Climate Summit from September 8 to 10, 2025, in Addis Ababa. Several Heads of State and Government are participating, in a context of an aggravated climate crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A general observation is clear: financing climate change adaptation is vital but costly, particularly for African countries. While the continent\u2019s greenhouse gas emissions remain below 4% of global emissions, Africa continues to face the effects of global warming, and its adaptation needs remain largely underfunded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the debate, President Macky Sall emphasized the gravity of the situation:
“The decline in official development assistance fundamentally changes the climate equation. Where could this lead us if we can no longer rely on the promises of our partners? The costs of the climate crisis weigh heavily on Africa, even though we are not the main contributors to global warming.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also called for adequate financing of adaptation initiatives and projects. Africa demonstrates a strong willingness to participate in global green transition efforts, but this momentum remains fragile without reliable and sustainable international financial support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s le premier tenu en septembre 2023 \u00e0 Nairobi, l\u2019Afrique organise son deuxi\u00e8me sommet sur le climat du 8 au 10 septembre 2025 \u00e0 Addis-Abeba. Plusieurs Chefs d\u2019\u00c9tat et de gouvernement y participent, dans un contexte de crise climatique aggrav\u00e9e<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un constat g\u00e9n\u00e9ral s\u2019impose : le financement de l\u2019adaptation au changement climatique est vital mais co\u00fbteux, en particulier pour les pays africains. Alors que les \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre du continent restent en de\u00e7\u00e0 de 4 % des \u00e9missions mondiales, l\u2019Afrique demeure confront\u00e9e aux effets du r\u00e9chauffement climatique, et ses besoins en adaptation restent largement sous-financ\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intervenant dans le d\u00e9bat, le Pr\u00e9sident Macky Sall a soulign\u00e9 la gravit\u00e9 de la situation :
\u00ab La baisse de l\u2019aide publique au d\u00e9veloppement change fondamentalement la donne climatique. O\u00f9 cela pourrait-il nous mener si nous ne pouvons plus compter sur les promesses de nos partenaires ? Les co\u00fbts de la crise climatique p\u00e8sent lourdement sur l\u2019Afrique, alors que nous ne sommes pas les principaux responsables du r\u00e9chauffement climatique. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il a en outre plaid\u00e9 pour un financement ad\u00e9quat des initiatives et projets d\u2019adaptation. L\u2019Afrique affiche une volont\u00e9 affirm\u00e9e de participer aux efforts de la transition verte mondiale, mais cette dynamique reste fragile sans un soutien financier international fiable et durable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
